Description
The square character of the place has been preserved, emphasizing the more important areas related to the Holy Father with a separate color and arrangement of stone slabs. There are 14 specially designed stone benches on the market square as symbols of the 14 Pope's encyclicals with engraved titles in Latin (and in Polish), the first, closest to basilica bench REDEMPTOR HOMINIS, symbolizes the source of life, is located near the historical water intake. The well (a historical source), which creates a sign of the Greek cross, underlines the symbolic and cultural character of the place. Night illumination, using of focused lighting directed upwards enhances the impression. On the extension of the house of John Paul II there is the edge of the square, which emphasizes the direction of the papal house. On the vertical glass elements there is a permanent exhibition related to John Paul II, the so-called History Gallery. A small object with a tourist information point and kiosk with newspapers was placed on the square.
